Himanshi Kumari lived with her mother and brother in Jagannathpur, Jharkhand. Her mother is a vegetable vendor. With the pandemic affecting the finances of the household, the mother is unable to afford to send both his son and daughter to school.

Andrea  was born 2010.  She lives with her mother who is a single parent is struggling to educate her child with what she earns. 

Nivedita  was born in 2017.  She lives with her father, a watchman, and her mother who is a domestic maid, both struggling to educate their  children with what they earn. 

Priya has had a period of being practically disconnected from academics for more than a year until late 2021, owing to the instabilities in the family.

The family has been having a very difficult time since the pandemic, with school fees pending for 2 years. The mother is determined to give her daughter whatever best education possible, and expressed motivation to do whatever sacrifices required to do that.

Maryam  was born in 2019.  She lives with her parents, both who work on odd jobs and are uneducated. they are determined that their daughter is educated and is able to have the choices they did not have.
